Title: Circulating miRNAs in response to exercise and muscle injury.

Summary : MicroRNAs (miRNA) are small non-coding RNAs involved in the post-transcriptional control of gene expression. They can be released by the cells upon stimulation or injury and can be measured in biofluids such as serum and plasma. There is growing interest in studying circulating miRNAs as biomarkers of both physiological and pathological conditions. Physical exercise as well as muscle injury have been shown to modify miRNA profile in the plasma, especially muscle-specific miRNAs, providing potent new biomarkers in physiology and medicine.
