In the last 20 years, the role of tendon during the stretch shortening cycle has been intensively studied. A brief overview of this work will be presented to emphasize that the dynamic interactions between fascicles and tendons enable to reduce the energetic cost of fascicle actions and provide a catapult like effect. A specific focus will be done on the studies of our group that studied these interactions during conventional "concentric" and explosive actions. Taken all together, this field of research clearly shows that fascicle-tendon interactions strongly influence muscle-tendon performance in all the experimental conditions. Perspectives linked to high level of explosive performance "on the field" will be discussed.

Biography : Antoine Nordez is full Professor at the University of Nantes in the sport sciences department. His research is focused on muscle-tendon biomechanics.
