Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Physical Activity
Research areas: Sedentary Lifestyle, Intraplaque Hemorrhage, Aortic Aneurism, Revascularization, Oxydative Stress, Prothrombotic Risks.
Our scientific goals are: ♦ To measure the benefits/risks ratio of physical activity on the prothrombotic risk and the risks of instability of carotid plaque. ♦ To understand the biological mechanisms of the effects of physical activity on the prothrombotic risk and the risks of instability of carotid plaque. ♦ To optimize surgical and pharmacological revascularization treatments. ♦ To determine the role of redox and immune status in the thrombo-atheromatous mechanisms.
The coherence of the team project “Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Physical Activity” mainly lies on: ♦ the originality of the question of physical activity and sedentary lifestyle on thromboembolic risks and pathophysiological mechanisms leading to vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque. We are the only team in France working in this topic, ♦ our biological expertise for the evaluation of oxidative stress, coagulation, inflammation and our clinical expertise in thrombus and atheroma plaque.
