Trail running seminar with J. Burr (U of Guelph), C. NICOL (U Aix-Marseille) & G. DOUCENDE (U of Perpignan, Font-Romeu)
The Thursday, December 9, 2021
Summary: An exceptional seminar with three accomplished speakers providing complementary perspectives on some physiological and biomechanical issues particular to (ultra) trail running!
Jamie Burr is Associate professor at the University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada) in the department of Human Health and Nutritional Studies. He is a member of the Human Performance & Health Research Laboratory and affiliated with the Centre for Cardiovascular Investigations (CCVI) at the University of Guelph. His research interests are human athletic performance, and the effects of physical activity on cardiovascular health, form and function.
Caroline NICOL is Associate Professor at Aix-Marseille University in Sport Science, and member of the Motor Performance and Modeling (P2M) team at the Institute des Sciences du Mouvement Etienne Jules Marey, UMR CNRS 7287. Her research focuses on the relaxation-stretching cycle in locomotion and in the adaptation mechanisms of the neuromuscular system in situations of external disturbance (unusual intense impacts) and / or prolonged internal stress (structural-functional recovery phase following micro-tears in muscles).
Grégory DOUCENDE is Associate Professor and Director of the Sport Sciences department at the Font-Romeu campus of the University of Perpignan Via Domitia. He conducts his research as a member of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory in Health and Performance in Mountain Environments (LIPSEM, EA 4604). His work focuses in particular on the conscious and physiological adaptations of the athlete at higher altitudes.
