Chemotherapies are known to induce cardiovascular impairment ranging in severity from asymptomatic, subclinical dysfunction to substantial cardiomyopathy leading to congestive heart failure and death.
There is substantial evidence that physical activity, higher levels of cardiorespiratory fitness, and exercise therapy can help prevent cardiovascular disease.
Moreover, animal studies have shown that exercise performed concomitantly with anthracyclines treatment may attenuate early cardiac damage that results from their exposure.
Biography : Damien Vitiello, PhD, Doctor from the University of Avignon (Cardiovascular Pharm-Ecology Lab, Avignon, France, 2011). Since September 2015, he is an Associate-Professor in cardiovascular physiology at Paris Descartes University, UMR8256, Paris. He has been a post-doctoral researcher at Montreal Heart Institute (Canada) from 2012 to 2014. He has also been working as a research assistant at Health High School Vaud, University of Lausanne, Switzerland (Jan-Aug 2014), then at Joseph Fourier University (Sept 2014-Aug 2015)
