Jean Monnet University is opening a full-time tenure track “Junior Professor Chair” position in the field of exercise science. The successful candidate will show expertise in exercise physiology, particularly in the context of exercise therapy. Skills in neuromuscular, cardiovascular and/or biological adaptations are expected. In addition to an integrative approach, demonstrating an ability to conduct translational research would be appreciated.

There are no citizenship restrictions. International applications are encouraged. Junior Professor Chairs are recruited among researchers with strong potential to manage and lead research teams and participate in national or international projects. The position is mainly dedicated to research. After a probationary period of 5 years, following a tenure review, the successful candidate will be awarded a full professorship position.

Anticipated starting date: September 2024. A calendar with exact application and selection dates will be made available shortly.

Teaching load is 64 h per year during the first 5 years. Being able to speak French is not mandatory, teaching may be done in English, in particular in the international Health Performance Science (HPS) Master degree. The candidate must be willing to learn French to be able to teach in French from the 6th year. It is also expected that the candidate take an active part in the development of a new Graduate School at the
University of Saint-Etienne.

The successful applicant will become part of a unique training and research environment, the multidisciplinary Inter-university Laboratory of Human Movement (LIBM: www.libm.fr/en). The candidate will benefit from the IRMIS state-of-the-art facilities (www.libm.fr/en/platform/saint-etienne.html).

A 200,000 € starting fund for research will be provided.

Applicants should have:

  • A PhD degree in Exercise science, Physiology or other related fields
  • Excellent scientific achievements, as shown by their publication record in international peer-reviewed journals
  • A relevant international network
