Patrick FARGIER
After working as a primary schoolteacher (1990-1993) Patrick Fargier worked as a PE teacher (1993-1996) and as a teacher trainer (1995-2001). He obtained a PhD in Education Science (2000) and he was recruited as an associate professor at Lyon 1 University (2001). He served as deputy director of a department of this university (department of sport science) for seven years (2006-2013). In 2020 Patrick Fargier has been recruited as a Prof. Dr. at the University of Teacher Education of the State of Vaud (HEPVD / Teaching and Research Unit in Physical Education / UER EPS). His research initially aimed to understand both motor learning and learning transfer in the field of PE. At Lyon 1 University his research focused on understanding the links between: (1) motor performance and (2) language production, or spatial abilities, or mental calculation. His research interests also led him to study possible interdisciplinarity in the field of Sport Science in Europe. He has supervised five PhD students and produced above 40 publications (journal articles, book chapters, and books).
