Nicolas ROYER
Nicolas Royer is a PhD student at Jean Monnet University in Saint-Etienne. He is currently working at the LIBM (Laboratoire Inter-universitaire de Biologie de la Motricité, EA 7424) under the supervision of Prof Guillaume Millet and Prof Jean-Philippe Camdessanché. He is also a member of the ActiFS (Activité physique, Fatigue, Santé) Chair. After completing his Bachelor degree in Sport Sciences with a specialization in Sport Training, he completed an MSc degree in Sport Sciences within MIP laboratory (Motricité, Interactions et Performance, EA 4334) at the University of Nantes. During this Masters degree, his research was dedicated to neuromuscular differences between contraction types on fatigue and muscle damage and was supervised by Dr. Marc Jubeau and Dr. Valentin Doguet. His research interests include neuromuscular physiology, with a particular interest in acute and chronic fatigue amongst clinical and healthy populations. His PhD research is dedicated to the etiology of fatigue in people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and the role of physical activity. Despite that chronic fatigue affects the quality of life of MS patients, its causes remain poorly understood, particularly in regard to neuromuscular function. A better understanding of the etiology of chronic fatigue will permit the development of adapted rehabilitation treatments. In addition to his main PhD project, Nicolas is also involved in research focusing on changes at cortical and spinal levels during and after acute exercise. Nicolas plays basketball competitively at regional level, in addition to partaking in running and resistance training.
