COLOSIO Alessandro
Alessandro Colosio is a junior professor in exercise physiology and adapted physical activities in the Sport Sciences Department at Jean Monnet University in Saint-Etienne since October 2024. Before moving to France, he completed a PhD at the University of Verona (Italy) and a 4 years postdoc at the University of Ghent (Belgium). As of September 2024, Alessandro has published 30 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and received ~ 750.000 € of research funding between personal mandates, projects and external services. His research focuses on tailoring and improving exercise programs for specific populations in health, sports, and clinical settings. The primary goal is to understand how manipulating the physiological stress imposed by different forms of training (intensity, volume etc.) can improve physiological outcomes at central (e.g., whole-body oxygen consumption, blood pressure) and peripheral levels (e.g., microcirculation, muscle activation). On the side of his research, Alessandro worked in strength & conditioning (S&C) in several contexts, here below the most relevant: ‣ S&C consultant @ Belgian Climbing Federation (2023-2024) ‣ S&C coach @ Belgian National Team of Artistic Gymnastics (2021-2024) ‣ Strength coach @ Belgian National Team of Rowing (2020-now) ‣ Director of S&C @ Strength Training Research Centre of the University of Verona (Italy, 2019-2020) ‣ S&C Coach @ Vicenza Rugby Union (Italy, 2014-2015) ‣ S&C Coach @ Rugby Research Centre of the University of Verona (Italy, 2012-2017)
