Thomas NERI
Dr. Thomas Neri is an Orthopedic Surgeon and assistant Professor. After obtenaing his Doctorate in Medicine (MD) and his graduation in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology in 2015, he was 3 years as attending surgeon at the University Hospital of Saint-Etienne. Concurrently with his medical curriculum, he first completed a Master (MEGA Biomechanics specialty) and then Doctorate of Science (PhD). The research field was around the anterolateral ligament of the knee and its reconstruction. After obtaining his PhD, he spent a year in Australia, at the Sydney Research Institute, to continue working on the knee. Currently, he specializes in lower limb surgery, particularly at the knee (arthroplasty, complex ligament reconstruction and meniscus surgery), hip (arthroplasty) and ankle (ligament reconstruction). He is working at the University hospital of Saint-Etienne as a senior consultant. At the University, he continues this research within the Inter-University Laboratory of Biology and Motricity. These research themes focus on the sports knee (ligaments, menisci, cartilage,) and the joint replacement of the hip and knee. He is a principal investigator or supervisor in clinical, anatomical and biomechanical studies. He is also a teacher at the Faculty of Medicine, and at the Physiotherapist School of St Etienne. These research activities have received 7 awards : 4 national awards and 3 international awards including the Young Investigator's Research Award 2019 (Albert Thrillat award) from the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He published 54 international publications including 18 as first author and 17 as second author. He is a reviewer for several international journals including the American Journal of Sports Medicine (83 reviews over the last 3 years). He has contributed to the writing of 7 books. He has 52 national or international communications.
