Alexandra GAUTHIER
Pediatrician and hematologist, Alexandra has been practicing since 2015 at the Institut d’Hématologie et d’Oncologie Pédiatrique (Ihope) of the Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL). She joined the "Vascular Biology and Red Blood Cell" team of the InterUniversity Laboratory of Human Movement Biology (LIBM EA7424) in 2016. Her research activity is focusing on rare red blood cell diseases (sickle cell disease, thalassemia, spherocytosis). She contributed to several projects as a pediatrician referent for red blood cell pathologies. In this context, she contributed to the creation of the Constitutive Reference Center on Red Blood Cell disorders in Lyon in which the “Vascular Biology and Red Blood Cell” team actively participates. She also obtained national funding from the Direction Générale de l’Offre de Soins (DGOS) in 2019 for a Research Program on the Performance Healthcare System (PREPS) to study the impact of a pediatric transition program -adult on the health of adolescents with sickle cell disease. Finally, she is currently an Executive Board member in the French Society of Hematology and Immunology Pediatric since 2020 and in the NaThalY Registry (NAtional THALassemia RegistrY).
1. Goal-oriented monitoring of cyclosporine is effective for graft-versus-host disease prevention after Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia Major. 2. Impact of surface-area-to-volume ratio, internal viscosity and membrane viscoelasticity on red blood cell deformability measured in isotonic condition. 3. Automatic depletion with Spectra Optia allows a safe 16% reduction of red Blood cell pack consumption in exchanged sickle cell anemia patients. 4. Application of whole-exome sequencing to unravel the molecular basis of undiagnosed syndromic congenital neutropenia with intellectual disability.
