Nicolas GUILLOT
Nicolas obtained his PhD in vascular biology in 2008 at the University Lyon 1. In the same time he completed his formation with a degree in animal experimentation. Then, he moved to NYC for a postdoc with Paul Frenette and Detleff Scholondorff. There, he worked on vascular inflammation in sickle cell disease and angiogenesis related to the TGFbeta signaling. He was appointed Assistant Professor at INSA Lyon in 2012. He is now deputy director of the Biosciences department at INSA Lyon and director of the Animal Facility. He taught the cardiovascular physiology and the pharmacokinetic. The main research activity of Nicolas is focused on the analysis of the response of endothelium to the mechanical stress and the interactions between red blood cells and endothelium in sickle cell disease context. He obtained several grant to pursue his work and he collabore with researcher from USA, Germany and UK. He has published numerous peer review papers.
1. Omega 3 fatty acids reduce platelet activity and lower the risk of thrombosis. 2. The TGFbeta/BAMBI signal pathway intervenes in vascular restenosis and angiogenesis. 3. Shear forces significantly modify lipid metabolism of endothelial cells. 4. The sickle-cell trait increase the risk of vascular dysfunction and vascular complications in patients with type II diabetes. |
